We think back to the “miracle heart medication” that contributed to the deaths of over 40,000 men in America, or the DES scandal that caused tens of thousands of birth defects. We remember Debendox (Bendectin), Griseofulvin, Gentamicin, Baycol, and other drugs (some already removed from the marked) with potential side effects that could make the consumer pay a terribly high price in terms of their health…and sometimes the ultimate price. Three Precious People I Once Knew      Kate, a robust 54-year old lady died after a short shopping venture. Her heart simply stopped. Her body was, in a sense, immune to the drug she needed because she had been given prescriptions so much throughout her life.      Jerry suffered from a simple fungal infection and was given a prescription known to increase the risk of cancer. In six months, Jerry no longer had the fungal infection, but he did have cancer. He died at 41.   Enough is Enough      Many in the medical community are rooting for Gilead. Many want desperately to see Gilead’s approach succeed. These dear medical professionals have seen what chemicals and radiation do to the lives of their patients; they’ve witnessed the side effects of supposedly “safe drugs” and they are saying, “enough is enough.” Why We Accept Insurance, But Not All Insurances      Gilead does accept patient insurance for personal healthcare when it benefits the patient.  Gilead is a Medicare/Medicade approved healthcare facility.  However, Gilead does not accept all insurances for one reason: we will not allow the insurance companies to dictate what type of care our patients will receive.
